Data Protection & Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:
- Encryption: Calendar provider credentials are encrypted with AES-256-GCM before application storage. Not all event and household fields have application-level encryption. Chedoo processes calendar data on its servers; it is not end-to-end encrypted.
- Access Controls: Strict access controls ensure only authorized systems can access your data
- Assurance: No independent audit report is published on this site. Contact us for current security and operational information.
- Privacy by Design: Privacy protection is built into every feature, not added as an afterthought
Location & Travel Privacy
Chedoo is not a family location tracker. Other family members cannot see your device position, movement history, private starting address or personal commute estimates. Statuses such as “At home” or “On the way” are voluntarily shared by the person concerned and are not GPS check-ins.
Device location is optional. In the mobile app, a position is requested only when you choose to use it while the app is open. Chedoo does not use background location or keep a device-location history. You can enter an address instead and continue using your calendar without location permission.
When you request a travel estimate, Chedoo processes the starting point and destination on its servers and sends the route to Google Maps. Map previews and routes opened in Google Maps also use Google’s services. A device-location fix is not saved as your travel starting address. Addresses you deliberately save for your own travel preferences are private to your account. Event venues and statuses you deliberately share with your household remain visible according to their sharing settings.
Calendar PDF & AI Processing
Calendar PDF extraction sends your selected document pages to Google Gemini only after you confirm the processing disclosure. The document can contain names, dates and other personal information, so upload only material you are authorized to process. Chedoo shows suggested events for your review before you confirm adding them. iCalendar (.ics) imports do not require Gemini processing.
The public PDF-to-ICS converter does not require an account. With consent, selected PDF pages are sent to Google Gemini and processed in memory; Chedoo does not store the PDF or extracted event contents in an account or document history. The editable preview remains in the browser page session until cleared, refreshed or closed. Downloads are generated in your browser. To control misuse and costs, we store daily usage counters and a daily hash of the requesting network address with a short expiry; expired records are cleaned up when the service is used. Google’s processing is governed by its applicable service terms and privacy policies.
AI scheduling and briefing features can process scheduling text and relevant calendar information through Google Gemini. Voice scheduling uses your device platform’s speech-recognition service to turn microphone audio into text; that service may process audio on its servers. Chedoo receives scheduling text rather than a saved audio recording. Chedoo’s servers process your data; these features are not end-to-end encrypted. Google Maps, Gemini and subscription providers process data under their respective service terms and privacy policies.
Payments & Subscription Access
Stripe processes website payments. Apple or Google processes purchases made through their app stores. Chedoo uses RevenueCat to verify mobile purchases, restore access and keep your subscription available across devices.
For this purpose, subscription providers process purchase records, product identifiers, renewal and expiration information, and account identifiers. Chedoo sends RevenueCat a separate billing identifier linked to your Chedoo account rather than your email address. Chedoo does not receive your full payment card details from these purchases.
Deleting your Chedoo account does not cancel an Apple or Google subscription. Manage or cancel that renewal in your store account settings.
Data Sharing & Disclosure
We do not sell your personal data. We only share your information in the following limited circumstances:
- With Your Family Members: Calendar availability and events (as configured by your privacy settings) are shared with family members you explicitly invite
- Service Providers: We may share data with trusted third-party service providers (e.g., cloud hosting, email services) who assist in operating our service, subject to strict confidentiality agreements
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights, property, or safety

Parents and guardians can create managed child profiles and add names and calendar information for household planning, including documents containing children’s information. Provide only information you are authorized to share and review its visibility before confirming. Children’s information is not used for advertising.
